A Morocco Sahara Desert luxury tours 2027 is a private, fully guided trip from Marrakech or Casablanca to the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, built around a night in a five star desert camp. It usually includes a private vehicle and driver, an English speaking guide, stops at Ait Ben Haddou and the Atlas Mountains, a sunset camel trek, a gourmet Moroccan dinner and a private ensuite tent under the stars. Tilila Travel runs these tours as fully private, tailor made experiences from 2 to 14 days.

So, what is a Morocco Sahara Desert luxury tours 2027, really?

Picture this. You leave Marrakech in a comfortable private SUV, not a cramped minibus packed with strangers. You climb through the High Atlas Mountains, stop for photos at Ait Ben Haddou, and by late afternoon the road disappears into rolling gold dunes. A camel is waiting. So is your own private tent, your own chef, and a sky so clear you can actually see the Milky Way.

That is the whole idea behind a luxury Sahara Desert tour. It is not a bigger version of a normal desert trip. It is a completely different way of doing it, private, personal and comfortable from the first pickup to the final drop off.

If you already know Morocco a little and just want the fast overview of what is possible, our Morocco luxury tours 2027 page is a good place to see the full range of private itineraries we run.

What makes it “luxury”? Here is the honest breakdown?

A lot of companies slap the word luxury on a standard camel ride and call it a day. Here is what actually separates a genuinely premium Sahara experience from a basic one.

Private, not shared. No group of 12 strangers, no fixed schedule. Just you, your driver and your guide, moving at your pace. Our private Morocco tours page breaks down exactly how private travel works here.

Real beds, real bathrooms. Luxury desert camps in Erg Chebbi come with ensuite tents, proper mattresses, hot showers and sometimes air conditioning or heating depending on season. You are not roughing it, you are glamping under some of the darkest skies on earth.

A vehicle that matches the trip. Think Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado or a Mercedes V Class for groups, air conditioned, comfortable for long desert drives.

A guide who knows the region, not a script. Licensed local guides who grew up around the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara, not someone reading from a tour manual.

Food that is actually good. Multi course Moroccan dinners cooked fresh at camp, not reheated tagine from a box.

For a deeper look at what separates a five star desert night from an average one, our overnight camel trek Merzouga guide walks through exactly what is included at each camp tier.

Where you will actually go?

Every luxury Sahara route is built around a handful of unmissable stops. Here is the classic path most travelers take from Marrakech.

Marrakech

Your starting point. Vibrant souks, the Koutoubia Mosque, Jardin Majorelle and Jemaa el Fnaa. If you want more time here before heading to the desert, check our Morocco travel guide for city highlights.

The High Atlas Mountains

Snow capped peaks, Berber villages and the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass. A completely different Morocco from the coast or the medinas.

Ait Ben Haddou

A UNESCO listed kasbah made of red earth, famous enough that you have probably seen it in a film without knowing it.

Dades Valley and Todra Gorge

Dramatic rock canyons and river valleys, one of the most photographed drives in the country.

Merzouga and Erg Chebbi

The main event. Dunes rising up to 150 metres, glowing gold at sunset and rose pink at sunrise. This is where your camel trek and desert camp happen.

For the full day by day version of this classic route, see our 3 day Marrakech Sahara Desert tour or the longer best desert tour from Marrakech comparison, which covers Merzouga, Zagora and Agafay options side by side.

What is actually included in the price?

Most Tilila Travel luxury Sahara packages include:

  • Private, air conditioned 4×4 or SUV with a professional driver
  • An English (or French, Spanish, German) speaking guide
  • All accommodation, including one or more nights in a luxury desert camp
  • Sunset camel trek to your camp
  • Dinner and breakfast at camp
  • Berber music around the fire
  • Sunrise walk or camel ride the next morning
  • Stops at Ait Ben Haddou, Dades Valley and other landmarks along the route

Airport transfers, additional riad nights in Marrakech or Fes, and optional extras like quad biking or sandboarding can usually be added on. If you want everything bundled together from the moment you land, our all inclusive Morocco tours page explains how that works.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on trip length, group size and camp tier, so we will not throw a fake number at you here. What we can tell you is that private luxury tours cost more than shared group tours because you get exclusive use of the vehicle, guide and camp, not because the price is padded. The fairest way to get an accurate figure is to request a personalized quote based on your dates and preferences through our contact page.

Is it worth it? Luxury versus standard desert camps

Short answer: if privacy, comfort and a genuinely memorable night matter to you, yes. A standard camp gets you the same dunes and the same sunset, but you are sharing facilities with a larger group and sleeping on simpler bedding. A luxury camp gets you a private ensuite tent, better food, and a night that feels closer to a boutique hotel than a campsite. For honeymooners, anniversaries or anyone celebrating something, the upgrade is almost always worth it. Our romantic Morocco honeymoon packages page shows exactly how couples typically structure this.

Who is this trip actually good for?

  • Couples and honeymooners wanting a private, romantic desert night
  • Families who want comfort without sacrificing adventure, see our Morocco top travel page for family friendly routes
  • First time visitors to Morocco who want the highlights without the logistics headache
  • Photographers chasing golden hour on the dunes
  • Anyone tired of shared group tours and ready for a private, flexible schedule

How many days do you need?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer depends on your trip goals.

  • 2 to 3 days covers the essential Marrakech to Merzouga loop with one desert night
  • 4 to 5 days adds more time in Ouarzazate, Dades Valley and a more relaxed pace
  • 7 to 14 days combines the desert with imperial cities like Fes, the blue streets of Chefchaouen and the Atlantic coast

If you are still deciding how long your Morocco trip should be overall, our how many days in Morocco is enough guide breaks this down by travel style.

We booked a 2 day private tour to the desert and had a great experience. The organization was smooth and everything went as planned. Both Mohamed, the manager, and Abdel, our guide, did an outstanding job! I fully recommend booking with Tilila Travel 👍🏻

My wife and I travelled in Morocco in early May. We used Tililia travel through a friend suggestion. The experience was wonderful. Our driver Yousef was terrific and was there from the start to the finish. He was there to pick us up from the airport, and drop us off at the end of the trip. We had plans and activities arranged every day and had the ability to make minor changes as deemed be necessary. The guides were good. We always felt safe and never had any issues communicating as everyone spoke English. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Morocco, and Tililia travel was a large part of the reason for a wonderful vacation. I would definitely recommend them for anyone visiting Morocco.

We just finished our tour yesterday. We love our tour guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this tour. The tour has great balance among culture, nature, and historical sites. Our guide is super patient, kind, and attentive. He waited for our slow walking family members. When someone needs bathroom or water stop, he finds the clean roadside restaurants/shops. We have took guided tours in different countries. Our Morocco guide is head and shoulder above all the other tour guides we had before. Above was my trip in 2019. I just went again in March 2023. The tour is well organized. Itinerary was given to us in advance. There’s no surprise. Everything went smoothly. The driver was waiting for us at the airport. He drives the whole tour, polite, helpful, and always on time. The city guide in Fez was exceptional, she tailored tour to our specific interests. The cooking class arranged by Mohammed, the owner of Tilila Tour was amazing. Every time I make those dishes, I will be thinking about this trip. It was a great memory making trip.

I was connected with Tilila travels through Rough Guides. We worked with Mohamed , the owner, on the details and he accommodated all of our changes/request and were able to create a trip based on timing, budget, duration and things we wanted to see in Morocco. Communication prior and during the trip was excellent. Our trip started off with a guided tour of Marrakech with our guide, Ibrahim, who was fantastic - helped us find some off the grid souks and gave us a unique local perspective into Marrakech and its history that we would never have received on our own. I also was not feeling too hot and he made sure to check in and make stops when needed. Our driver, Mohamed (not the tour owner), for our 9 day road trip around Morocco, was a true superstar. He made our trip such an amazing adventure, paying attention to our likes and dislikes and really took care of us like family. All of our stops (Dades Gorge, Fes, Chefchaouen, Rabat, and Casablanca) were incredible to experience and the local city guides assigned to us took it to another level. The only exception was the Sahara desert camp which just wasn’t our cup of tea, but Mohamed the owner did address our feedback which was nice. Other than that, the whole trip was amazing and we would recommend Tilila to anyone looking to visit Morocco.

My husband and I took a 9-day tour of Morocco with Tilila Travel in April 2026. Our expectations were exceeded! The company is very professional and responsive, but most importantly they were there for us every time! We felt completely safe and cared for while we traveled across the beautiful country of Morocco. I have some mobility issues, and Tilila was great about making accommodations for me. They let me pick and choose activities, and they were able to shorten some things that were too hard for me. Accommodations were beautiful and some of them were really wonderful! All of them were comfortable and our needs were always met. When my husband was hit with a GI bug, our driver took us to a pharmacy where he was able to get antibiotics and felt better quickly! Speaking of drivers, Walid was the best! Kind, patient and the best driver I ever saw. Always available and treated us so well! We LOVED our trip and would always recommend Tilila Travel!

We had a fantastic experience on this trip and really enjoyed every part of it. The itinerary through Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, and Marrakech was very well planned, and everything ran smoothly. All the accommodations were exactly as described—comfortable, clean, and well located. A special mention for our driver, Ali, who was friendly, punctual, and very professional throughout. He made the long drives easy and was always accommodating. The Sahara experience was a highlight—the camel ride and ATV were especially memorable. For an 8-day trip, there is naturally quite a bit of driving involved. If we were to do it again, we might consider trimming one or two stops just to allow for a slightly more relaxed pace—but overall, the itinerary was very enjoyable and well put together. Overall, the service and execution were excellent. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a well-organized and memorable Morocco experience.

With Tilila Travel, we took a 5-day tour from the ocean to the desert. The tour by car was safe, comfortable, and full of fun. The desert, which I saw for the first time, impressed me greatly. I am very grateful to Tilila Travel, especially to our guide Mustapha and to my friends who made the journey unique.

Tilila Travel gave us personal, prompt, polite, and extremely solicitous attention to all of our requests and travel needs. They arranged beautiful lodging, sensible schedules, and excellent local tour services. A great outfit to deal with. Our driver Tawfiq was a hoot. We spent many hours on the road in conversation about Morocco and life on both sides of the ocean. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm, and always bent over backwards with great local advice for touring, eating, and sightseeing. We all laughed and sang a lot on our long travel days, while we listened to his playlists of Moroccan folk and dance music. He was on call for us in the evenings, and drove us to restaurants and entertainment, taking all of the worry out of navigating the cities. Tawfiq was more like a travel buddy than a driver, and infinitely better than Uber!
