Discover Morocco on a 15 Day Private Itinerary

Marrakech, Sahara, Fes, and Chefchaouen

This 15 day Marrakech Fes Sahara tour covers Morocco’s four defining landscape and cultural categories within a single private journey. Marrakech and Fes represent the imperial city experience. The High Atlas Mountains and the southern gorges represent the dramatic landscape. The Sahara Desert at Erg Chebbi represents the iconic natural experience. Essaouira and the Atlantic coast provide the coastal counterpoint. Together, these four categories create a Morocco vacation itinerary of extraordinary variety.

Private Travel at Your Own Pace

A private 15 day Morocco tour from Marrakech moves at the speed your group sets each day. Want to spend an extra hour at Ait Ben Haddou because the afternoon light is perfect? The schedule accommodates that immediately. Prefer to skip the Ouarzazate film studio visit and use that time in the Dades Valley? Your driver restructures accordingly. Over fifteen days, this flexibility compounds into a fundamentally different travel experience from any group tour.

Local Guides, Riads, and Desert Camps

Licensed city guides in Marrakech and Fes provide specialist knowledge at a depth that no generalist driver from another region replicates. Luxury riads in both medinas provide the authentic imperial city accommodation experience. The luxury private desert camp at Erg Chebbi provides en suite tent accommodation within the Sahara dune field. Consequently, every overnight stop reflects genuine expertise and deliberate selection.

Is 15 Days Enough to Explore Morocco?

Why 15 Days Works for a First Morocco Trip

Yes. Fifteen days covers Morocco comprehensively from Marrakech without any destination feeling rushed. The itinerary allocates two full days in Marrakech, two nights in the Sahara, two full days in Fes, and a full day in Chefchaouen alongside genuine time at Ait Ben Haddou, the Todra Gorge, Rabat, Casablanca, and Essaouira. As a result, you experience genuine depth at each stop rather than a monument circuit.

15 Days vs 7 Days vs 10 Days

Seven day Morocco tours from Marrakech reach the Sahara and Fes but give each only a day. Ten day tours add Chefchaouen but still move quickly through the southern route. In contrast, fifteen days spreads the same journey with genuine breathing room at each stop. The Fes medina receives two full days rather than one rushed morning. Chefchaouen receives a full day and overnight rather than an afternoon visit. Moreover, the Atlantic coast section at Essaouira and Casablanca, which most ten day tours skip entirely, becomes a natural part of the journey.

How This Itinerary Balances Cities, Desert, and Coast

The 15 day Marrakech Fes Sahara itinerary achieves balance through deliberate routing. The first three days focus on Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains.

Days four through seven explore the southern kasbah route, dramatic gorges, and the Sahara. The journey then continues to Fes and Meknes from days eight through ten. Finally, days eleven through fifteen cover Morocco’s northern and Atlantic regions.

. Furthermore, no single driving day overwhelms the itinerary with excessive distance, which keeps every arrival feeling like a destination rather than a transfer point.

Marrakech to Fes Through the Sahara Desert

Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou

The southern departure from Marrakech reaches the Tizi n Tichka pass within ninety minutes. This High Atlas crossing is the most dramatic road journey in Morocco and provides the strongest visual contrast between Marrakech’s urban atmosphere and the mountain terrain that follows. The Kasbah Telouet detour adds approximately ninety minutes but provides a historical depth worth the additional time. Below the pass, Ait Ben Haddou rewards the afternoon stop with its extraordinary pisé architecture and UNESCO designation.

Ouarzazate and the Dades Valley

Below Ait Ben Haddou, the route heads east along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Ouarzazate and the Dades Valley. This section introduces the southern Morocco kasbah landscape that defines the region’s architectural identity. The Skoura palm oasis and the Valley of Roses add natural and agricultural variety to a driving day that combines ancient fortified architecture with extraordinary landscape photography conditions.

Todra Gorge and Merzouga

The Todra Gorge on day four provides the southern route’s most dramatic natural scenery before the Sahara Desert itself. Your itinerary allocates genuine walking time in the gorge rather than treating it as a viewpoint. Merzouga arrives on day five, and the first sight of the Erg Chebbi dunes from the desert plain is one of the most reliably dramatic arrival moments in Morocco travel.

Merzouga to Fes

The day seven drive from Merzouga north through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas to Fes provides completely new scenery compared to the outward southern route. The Ziz Valley palm grove corridor, the Midelt Middle Atlas landscape, and the cedar forests near Azrou together cover more scenic variety in a single driving day than most itineraries achieve in three days.

Why This Route Is Better Than a Direct Marrakech to Fes Journey

The direct route from Marrakech to Fes takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. In contrast, the Marrakech to Fes via Sahara route spans four days of driving but covers Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Gorge, the Todra Gorge, Merzouga, and the Ziz Valley along the way. Every additional hour of driving time on this route delivers proportionally more reward than the direct road between the two cities. Furthermore, the Sahara Desert experience itself justifies the indirect approach independently of everything else the southern route provides.

Two Nights in the Sahara Desert at Merzouga

Sunset Camel Trek

Your private sunset camel trek departs from the camp edge approximately one hour before sunset on day five arrival. The forty five minute trek moves into the Erg Chebbi dune interior away from any other group tracks. As you move deeper into the desert, the sound of the road and the camp disappears. The dunes change colour continuously, moving from warm gold to deep amber and copper as the sun descends. This moment consistently defines the 15 day Morocco private tour for most travelers who complete it.

Luxury Desert Camp

Your luxury private desert camp places tents within the Erg Chebbi dune field away from shared camp areas. En suite bathroom facilities within the tent include hot water, a toilet, and a shower. Premium bedding, lantern lighting, and a dedicated service team create an atmosphere that photographs rarely capture. The two night stay gives you this atmosphere across two consecutive evenings rather than a single rushed overnight.

Sahara Sunrise

Waking before dawn at the desert camp on day six is one of the most rewarding decisions any Morocco traveler makes. The Sahara sunrise develops over twenty minutes, transitioning from deep purple to rose to gold as the sun clears the Erg Chebbi dune crest. The desert is completely silent at this hour. Most travelers who experience the Sahara sunrise describe it as surpassing even the famous sunset in its emotional impact.

4×4 Desert Excursion

A private 4×4 dune excursion on day six takes your group into the deeper sections of Erg Chebbi. The excursion covers terrain inaccessible on foot or by camel and provides a different perspective on the scale and variety of the dune field. Additionally, sandboarding on the steep dune faces provides the most physically active optional activity during the Merzouga stay.

Sandboarding and Amazigh Experiences

An Amazigh nomad community visit near Merzouga provides genuine cultural context for the nomadic traditions and the desert landscape surrounding the Erg Chebbi camp. In the evening, the campfire session features traditional Gnawa and Amazigh music performed by the camp team. This reflects genuine musical traditions rather than a staged tourist performance. Our Sahara Desert tours Morocco Marrakech page covers all Sahara Desert options in additional detail.

Best Places to Visit on This 15 Day Morocco Itinerary

Marrakech

Two full days give you the medina at genuine depth. Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Koutoubia Mosque, Majorelle Garden, and the souks all receive proper time with a licensed guide on day two. Optional additions include a private Moroccan cooking class at our Marrakech cooking class facility or a traditional hammam session.

High Atlas Mountains

The Tizi n Tichka pass and the Kasbah Telouet detour together make day three one of the most scenically and historically varied driving days in Morocco. The pass rewards a slow crossing with stops at viewpoints above the Atlas valleys. Kasbah Telouet rewards a dedicated visit for its carved cedar ceilings that few visitors see because it sits just off the main tourist route.

Ait Ben Haddou

Morocco’s most famous ksar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site provides a genuine afternoon stop on this private Morocco itinerary. Your private tour allocates up to two hours here rather than the forty five minutes most shared group tours provide.

Ouarzazate

Known as the gateway to the Sahara and Morocco’s film production capital, Ouarzazate provides a comfortable overnight base between the Atlas crossing and the eastern desert road. The Kasbah Taourirt within the city rewards a morning visit before departing east on day four.

Dades Valley and Todra Gorge

Both gorges provide extraordinary natural scenery on the southern route. The Dades Gorge follows the river through ancient kasbahs on the cliff edges. The Todra Gorge narrows dramatically at its tightest point. Together, they make day four one of the most geographically varied days of the entire 15 day Marrakech Fes Sahara itinerary.

Merzouga and Erg Chebbi

The Erg Chebbi dune field is Morocco’s most iconic Saharan landscape. Two nights here provide genuinely more value than one because the second day allows desert activities, a cultural visit, and a second sunset without the pressure of an early morning departure.

Fes

Fes el Bali is the world’s largest car free urban area. Two full days, one with a licensed guide and one for personal exploration, give the city the time it genuinely deserves. Our tailor made Morocco experience from Fes page covers Fes focused additions.

Volubilis

The Roman ruins at Volubilis preserve the most extensive Roman site in Morocco with intact floor mosaics and a triumphal arch. The site sits on a hillside above the Middle Atlas foothills and provides a completely different historical layer to the imperial cities around it.

Meknes

Meknes rewards a shorter visit focused on the Bab Mansour gate and the imperial stables at Heri es Souani. Together, these two sites convey the ambition of Moulay Ismail’s 17th century imperial capital without requiring a full day.

Chefchaouen

A full day and overnight stay in Chefchaouen allows morning exploration before the day trippers arrive and evening atmosphere after they leave. Our Chefchaouen tailor made Morocco experiences page covers this destination in additional detail.

Rabat

Morocco’s royal capital concentrates the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah of the Udayas, and the Chellah necropolis within a short walking distance. Rabat consistently surprises travelers who allocate genuine time here rather than treating it as a transit stop.

Casablanca

The Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic coast is one of the most architecturally significant religious buildings constructed anywhere in the 20th century. Beyond the mosque, the Art Deco architecture of the city centre rewards an afternoon walk.

Essaouira

The Atlantic port city provides the most relaxed section of the entire 15 day Morocco vacation itinerary. The blue and white ramparts, the fishing harbour, the artisan workshops, and the consistent Atlantic breeze together create an atmosphere completely different from everything that comes before it.

Travel Morocco With a Private Vehicle and Driver

Private Air Conditioned Transportation

Throughout all fifteen days, your group travels in a private air conditioned vehicle. No shared rides, no other passengers, and no compromises on timing or pace. The schedule bends to your group rather than a fixed group departure.

Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Prado

Couples and small groups of up to five typically travel in a Toyota Land Cruiser or Toyota Prado. These vehicles handle Morocco’s diverse road conditions, from the Tizi n Tichka mountain pass to the desert approaches near Merzouga, with equal competence. Air conditioning maintains comfortable temperatures throughout every driving day. Furthermore, the luggage space accommodates generous amounts of baggage without compromising passenger seating.

Mercedes V Class for Larger Groups

Groups of six to seven typically travel in a Mercedes V Class. The V Class provides a higher interior finish than a standard SUV and suits luxury travelers for whom vehicle comfort matters as a daily experience throughout fifteen driving days. Groups of eight or more use a Mercedes Sprinter. All vehicles operate as fully private arrangements with the same dedicated driver throughout. Visit our Morocco tours with private driver page for full fleet details.

Professional Driver Guide

Your dedicated driver guide stays with your group from airport pickup on day one to final departure on day fifteen. The same person handles every kilometre and every stop. By day two, they understand your preferences, your stop timing preferences, and your pace without being reminded. Over fifteen days, this consistency builds a genuine relationship that significantly improves the quality of every stop and every day’s experience.

Where You Stay During the 15 Day Morocco Tour

Traditional Moroccan Riads

Luxury riads in Marrakech and Fes provide the authentic imperial city accommodation experience. A five star riad in the Marrakech medina places you inside the ancient city with a private rooftop terrace, a courtyard plunge pool, and an elaborate Moroccan breakfast. Riads in Fes carry the same character within a different historical context.

Boutique Hotels

Along the southern route through Ouarzazate, the Dades Valley, and the Todra Gorge, characterful boutique hotels and kasbahs provide the best available comfort within each region. These smaller independent properties consistently provide more character and more personal service than chain hotels at the same location.

Sahara Desert Camp

Your two nights at the Erg Chebbi luxury desert camp provide en suite tent accommodation, premium bedding, a dedicated service team, and private placement within the dune field. This desert camp experience defines the 15 day Marrakech Fes Sahara tour for most travelers who complete it.

Why Choose a Private 15 Day Morocco Tour?

A private Morocco private tour gives you advantages that no group departure replicates.

Travel in a vehicle reserved exclusively for your group, with a driver focused entirely on your experience. Each day, the schedule can adapt to your group’s interests, preferences, and pace. Over fifteen days, those advantages compound into a fundamentally better travel experience. Furthermore, a licensed guide in each city provides specialist knowledge that transforms monument visits from informative to genuinely extraordinary.

Couples can enjoy greater privacy, creating romantic opportunities that are harder to find on shared tours. For first-time visitors, having a dedicated driver-guide offers valuable context, navigation, and local expertise, making Morocco feel more accessible and less overwhelming.  Additionally, for small groups of friends, the private vehicle means everyone travels together throughout rather than coordinating across multiple vehicles and transfers.

How Much Does a 15 Day Morocco Tour From Marrakech Cost?

Private Tour Pricing

Several factors determine the total cost of a private 15 day Morocco tour from Marrakech. The number of travelers sharing the vehicle is the most significant single factor, as the vehicle cost divides across the group. Accommodation category, from characterful mid range riads to five star boutique properties, affects the total substantially.

Accommodation Level

Luxury riads at the five star level cost more per night than comfortable mid range riad options. Both categories provide authentic medina character and genuine private Morocco quality. Your stated accommodation preferences shape the final quote substantially.

Group Size

Per person costs drop considerably as group size increases. Two people sharing a Toyota Land Cruiser pay more per person than six people sharing a Mercedes V Class. Consequently, private group tours frequently cost less per person than individual bookings on shared group departures of equivalent quality.

Luxury Desert Camp Options

Standard luxury camp tents cost less than private en suite desert tent options. The private candlelit desert dinner and optional activities such as sandboarding and 4×4 excursions carry separate rates. Understanding the camp category options before booking ensures your Sahara component matches your expectations and budget. Visit our private Morocco tour from Marrakech price page for current pricing context by group size and accommodation category.

Can You Customize This 15 Day Morocco Itinerary?

Add More Time in Marrakech

A third night in Marrakech works well for travelers who want to include the Agafay Desert day trip, an additional cooking class, or simply a slower pace in the medina before the southern journey begins.

Add Essaouira

Essaouira appears as a standard stop on days thirteen and fourteen of this itinerary. Travelers who want more time on the Atlantic coast can add a second night by adjusting the Casablanca section or extending the total tour to sixteen days.

Add More Time in Chefchaouen

A second night in Chefchaouen allows a more relaxed exploration of the city including a day hike in the surrounding Rif Mountain terrain. This addition works particularly well for travelers who respond strongly to mountain scenery and Amazigh village culture.

Upgrade Accommodation

Every accommodation property on this itinerary can be upgraded. Five star luxury riads in Marrakech and Fes, the most exclusive private desert camp at Erg Chebbi, and premium boutique hotels along the southern route all apply within the same fifteen day framework.

Adjust Sahara Experiences

The standard two night Sahara stay can extend to three nights for travelers whose primary priority is the desert experience rather than the Atlantic coast section. Alternatively, the optional private candlelit dinner in the Erg Chebbi dunes can be added as a bespoke romantic addition for couples.

Change Your Start or End City

Some travelers fly into Casablanca rather than Marrakech. Others fly out of Fes. The 15 day Morocco itinerary Marrakech Fes Sahara framework can be reversed or restructured to accommodate different arrival and departure cities without affecting the overall route quality. Contact us through the Tilila Travel contact page to discuss your specific routing needs.

Best Time to Visit Morocco for 15 Days

Spring: March to May

Spring provides the best overall conditions for this 15 day Morocco private tour from Marrakech. Atlas Mountain temperatures are comfortable for the high pass crossing on day three. The Valley of Roses blooms through April and early May. The Sahara is warm rather than hot, making the camel trek and outdoor camp activities genuinely enjoyable. Furthermore, spring light across all destinations provides exceptional conditions for photography throughout the journey.

Autumn: September to November

Autumn mirrors spring in quality. Summer heat softens from September onward into ideal traveling temperatures. October in particular suits the complete fifteen day route, as both the medina walking days and the desert experiences occur in comfortable conditions. Additionally, autumn accommodation availability in luxury riads is generally better than during the spring peak months.

Summer: June to August

Summer brings intense heat to the southern route and the Sahara Desert. Temperatures near Merzouga regularly exceed 40 degrees in July and August. Nevertheless, summer travelers should plan outdoor activities exclusively for early morning or late afternoon. The Atlantic coast at Essaouira benefits from cooling sea breezes throughout summer and provides welcome relief during the final section of the itinerary.

Winter: December to February

Winter suits Marrakech, the southern kasbah route, and the Sahara Desert well, with comfortable daytime temperatures. In the desert, nights can become significantly colder, creating a cozy atmosphere at luxury camps without taking away from the experience. However, Fes, Chefchaouen, and the Rif Mountains can be cold in January and February. Warm layers are essential for the northern section of the winter itinerary.

Who Is This 15 Day Morocco Tour Best For?

Couples

Fifteen days through Marrakech, the Sahara, and Fes provides a couples journey of extraordinary variety and genuine romantic depth. Luxury riads in two medinas, a private desert camp with candlelit dinner option at Erg Chebbi, and the Atlantic coast at Essaouira together create a couple’s experience that most honeymoon destinations cannot match. Our honeymoon travel Morocco page covers the romantic additions available within this framework.

Families

Families with children navigate this itinerary well at a private pace that adapts each day to the family’s energy level. The camel trek, the sandboarding, the Jemaa el Fna evening performances, the Chefchaouen medina exploration, and the Essaouira beach section all engage children as naturally as adults. Our family travel Morocco page addresses family specific planning considerations.

First Time Visitors

A private 15 day Morocco itinerary from Marrakech is the ideal introduction to the country for travelers who want to experience Morocco comprehensively on their first visit. The combination of Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert, Fes, Chefchaouen, and the Atlantic coast covers every major Moroccan landscape and cultural category.

Small Private Groups

Groups of friends traveling together do best with a private 15 day Marrakech Fes Sahara tour. A private vehicle carries the entire group together throughout. The schedule suits everyone simultaneously. Furthermore, per person costs drop considerably as group size increases, making a private tour frequently more competitive in cost than individual bookings on shared group departures.

Luxury Travelers

At the luxury level, this 15 day Morocco tour from Marrakech selects five star riads in Marrakech and Fes, a premium en suite desert camp at Merzouga, and a Range Rover Sport or Mercedes V Class depending on group size. Our luxury private tours in Morocco page covers the full premium offering in detail.

My mom and I had an amazing 10-day tour of Morocco with Tilila Travel! From the initial planning to the end of our trip, the service was exceptional. Mohammed was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and helpful throughout the planning process, and provided us with a detailed itinerary that made everything seamless. Our driver, Abdel, was wonderful—professional, respectful, and always attentive to our needs. His positive attitude made the long drives between cities enjoyable, and we always felt safe and comfortable with him. Everything was extremely well organized, from hotel check-ins to the knowledgeable English-speaking guides in each city. We truly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Tilila Travel to anyone visiting Morocco!

We planned our adventure to Morocco just three weeks in advance and we knew that Mohamed/Tilila Travel was the way to go from the first email response we received. It was a weekend and Mohamed got right back to us! We asked so many questions and he answered every one so we felt confident about our itinerary, our packing list and everything! From the moment our driver, Yassin, picked us up at the Marrakech airport, we know we were in the best of hands! Yassin was such an experienced driver - he knew all of the different terrains and areas we passed through - he was a goldmine of knowledge, sharing with us so much information about the different areas and cultures. He was so thoughtful, making stops along the way to show us such neat things - like the wild monkeys, the argon oil area, the Berber rug factory, the gorge, every small detail enhanced our trip! We suggested a loose itinerary to Mohamed and planned the perfect trip for us, including beautiful and special riads and fascinating tours! The camel trip and overnight in the Sahara was absolutely incredible! Thanks to Mohamed and Yassin, we enjoyed the most wonderful journey through an amazing country! Yassin is the BEST and we made a lifelong friend in him - Mohamed too (even though we didn't get to meet him in person)!

We booked a 2 day private tour to the desert and had a great experience. The organization was smooth and everything went as planned. Both Mohamed, the manager, and Abdel, our guide, did an outstanding job! I fully recommend booking with Tilila Travel 👍🏻

My wife and I travelled in Morocco in early May. We used Tililia travel through a friend suggestion. The experience was wonderful. Our driver Yousef was terrific and was there from the start to the finish. He was there to pick us up from the airport, and drop us off at the end of the trip. We had plans and activities arranged every day and had the ability to make minor changes as deemed be necessary. The guides were good. We always felt safe and never had any issues communicating as everyone spoke English. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Morocco, and Tililia travel was a large part of the reason for a wonderful vacation. I would definitely recommend them for anyone visiting Morocco.

We just finished our tour yesterday. We love our tour guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this tour. The tour has great balance among culture, nature, and historical sites. Our guide is super patient, kind, and attentive. He waited for our slow walking family members. When someone needs bathroom or water stop, he finds the clean roadside restaurants/shops. We have took guided tours in different countries. Our Morocco guide is head and shoulder above all the other tour guides we had before. Above was my trip in 2019. I just went again in March 2023. The tour is well organized. Itinerary was given to us in advance. There’s no surprise. Everything went smoothly. The driver was waiting for us at the airport. He drives the whole tour, polite, helpful, and always on time. The city guide in Fez was exceptional, she tailored tour to our specific interests. The cooking class arranged by Mohammed, the owner of Tilila Tour was amazing. Every time I make those dishes, I will be thinking about this trip. It was a great memory making trip.

I was connected with Tilila travels through Rough Guides. We worked with Mohamed , the owner, on the details and he accommodated all of our changes/request and were able to create a trip based on timing, budget, duration and things we wanted to see in Morocco. Communication prior and during the trip was excellent. Our trip started off with a guided tour of Marrakech with our guide, Ibrahim, who was fantastic - helped us find some off the grid souks and gave us a unique local perspective into Marrakech and its history that we would never have received on our own. I also was not feeling too hot and he made sure to check in and make stops when needed. Our driver, Mohamed (not the tour owner), for our 9 day road trip around Morocco, was a true superstar. He made our trip such an amazing adventure, paying attention to our likes and dislikes and really took care of us like family. All of our stops (Dades Gorge, Fes, Chefchaouen, Rabat, and Casablanca) were incredible to experience and the local city guides assigned to us took it to another level. The only exception was the Sahara desert camp which just wasn’t our cup of tea, but Mohamed the owner did address our feedback which was nice. Other than that, the whole trip was amazing and we would recommend Tilila to anyone looking to visit Morocco.

My husband and I took a 9-day tour of Morocco with Tilila Travel in April 2026. Our expectations were exceeded! The company is very professional and responsive, but most importantly they were there for us every time! We felt completely safe and cared for while we traveled across the beautiful country of Morocco. I have some mobility issues, and Tilila was great about making accommodations for me. They let me pick and choose activities, and they were able to shorten some things that were too hard for me. Accommodations were beautiful and some of them were really wonderful! All of them were comfortable and our needs were always met. When my husband was hit with a GI bug, our driver took us to a pharmacy where he was able to get antibiotics and felt better quickly! Speaking of drivers, Walid was the best! Kind, patient and the best driver I ever saw. Always available and treated us so well! We LOVED our trip and would always recommend Tilila Travel!

We had a fantastic experience on this trip and really enjoyed every part of it. The itinerary through Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, and Marrakech was very well planned, and everything ran smoothly. All the accommodations were exactly as described—comfortable, clean, and well located. A special mention for our driver, Ali, who was friendly, punctual, and very professional throughout. He made the long drives easy and was always accommodating. The Sahara experience was a highlight—the camel ride and ATV were especially memorable. For an 8-day trip, there is naturally quite a bit of driving involved. If we were to do it again, we might consider trimming one or two stops just to allow for a slightly more relaxed pace—but overall, the itinerary was very enjoyable and well put together. Overall, the service and execution were excellent. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a well-organized and memorable Morocco experience.
