The first stop is the small village of Ait Barka. It sits right at the gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. From here, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the mountain scenery.
The journey then continues toward the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. This is the highest major mountain pass in Morocco, reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters. This is a perfect place to pause. You can take photos and admire the impressive landscapes.
After crossing the pass, the route winds through the beautiful Ounila Valley. The area is famous for its dramatic red-earth landscapes and historic caravan routes.
Exploring the Famous Ksar Ait Ben Haddou:
Around midday, you will arrive for the main highlight of your excursion from Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It is one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. It has also served as a filming location for many famous international movies.
You will have plenty of time to enjoy lunch nearby. Afterward, you will begin exploring the old village. A local guide can accompany you through the narrow streets of the ksar. They will lead you to the top of the hill. From there, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the valley and the surrounding desert scenery.
Discovering the Secret Kasbah Telouet:
